Fun stuff : Thousand Islands ( a different look )

Dear blogger ;

Around Jakarta it is hard to find a nice natural vacation spot. You have to go outside the province to get a natural relief. Specially for water tourism. Ancol beach now become more and more dirty. It become more like an amusement park than a natural beach tourist spot. The same way to the Muara Angke fishing port. Here you can buy fish. Not to enjoy the surrounding.

But, a little way to the north, there a group of island called thousand islands. Administratevely, this group of islands is part of DKI Jakarta Province. But it offer a contrast way of living to majority people living in the mainland. Many of the island is uninhabited island. Also many of then are privately owned. Among the famous are Bidadari Island, Putri Island and Pramuka Island. Some hotels and resorts also serve tourist here. Foreign tourist dominated with Japanesse often seen here.

This island may satisfied for beach activity and snorkeling. Some fishing activities also can be enjoyed here. But it is not what we wan't to discuss today. We want to go far north. To the other part of Thousand Islands which a few people only knew. For your information there are around 200 islands strectching approx 120 kilometers north from Jakarta.

1. Semak Daun Island

From Muara Angke Fishing Port, first you have to go to Pramuka Island. About two and half hours journey trough public water transport. From here you can carter boat with approx 15 people capacity to the Semak Daun Island.
This island is privately owned, unihabited islands. Only 30 minute northwest Pramuka Island.
The sea is quite calm here. The white sand beach stretching from north to south also quite clear. Also a quite new wodden pier on the east side of this island. Mangrove trees ( young ones ) also can be found to the south next to a perfect white sand beach for sunbathing.

2. Kelor Barat Island

This is also a privatley owned island. The caretaker of this island can be visited at the Kelor Timur Island nearby. But this island has no fresh water source. So better to go to nearby Kelor Timur.

3. Kelor Timur Island

This island is said to be owned by Tommy Soeharto. The youngest son of passing Soeharto. Apparently this island used to have a resort with cafe and water sport facilities. But now is no longer operating. A fresh water spring can be found here for cook and bathe. Swiming and playing with many colorful fish near the pier is a best activities here.

4. Tongkeng Island

Another privatley owned island by businessman Setiawan Djodi. A nice island. The white beach near the pier is adorned with hot pink benches. There are also two bungalows and one cellular communication tower. Many coconut trees behind the bungalows for fresh and sweet coconut liquid and flesh.

To be continued
