Work stuff : The World's Billionaires

Dear blogger ;

Yesterday the Forbes Magazine announced the World's Billionaires of 2008. Full report here.

The headline is interesting :

" It's been a tough year for the richest people in the world. Last year there were 1,125 billionaires. This year there are just 793 people rich enough to make our list."

Yes the economic challenge also hurt them. The number above shown the decline of about 30 % rich people. Not only many of them feel off the list, they are also a lot poorer.

Their collective net down 2 trillion US Dollar from last year. Bill Gates who reclaimed the number one on this year list also lost 18 billion US Dollar. The runner up is Warren Buffet ( last year number one ) also lost 25 billion US Dollar. Last year runner up Carlos Slim H from Mexican forced to be at number three with also suffered a lost of 25 billion US Dollar.

But the biggest looser of 2008 is the biggest gainer of 2007. Mr Anil Ambani from India lost 76% of his fortune ( approx 32 billion US Dollar ). India nation suffer great deal at 2008 and probably will continue to 2009. The stock market decreased almost 44 % and their currency also depreciated 18 % to US Dollar.

A total of 656 billionaires lost their money last year. Only 44 managed to add their wealth. This minority including Tadashi Yanai, John Paulson and Guy Laliberte.

One particular new comer is interesting Mr Joaquin " El Chapo "Guzman Loera ( the biggest suppliers of cocaine to the US ). This man is wanted by the prize of 5 million US Dollar by the Mexico Government since his escape from the prison at 2001. He is the leader of Sinaloa drug cartel and listed number 701 at forbes. His fortune is estimated near 1 billion US Dollar.

For the top 50 of world billionaires, you can read the full report here.

A few women made to this top 50 including Liliane Bettencourt ( Europe's richest woman ), Alice Walton ( Walmart ), Abigail Johnson ( Fidelity Investment ) and Susanne Klatten ( BMW and Altana ).

For my country, 3 people managed to enter the top 500. And 2 other managed to enter the top 1000. The Hartono's familly ( owner of Djarum Tobacco Company and owner 50 % BCA share ) are listed at number 430 ( Mr Michael and Mr Budi Hartono ). And Mr Sukanto Tanoto ( palm and paper king ) made it at number 450.
