Dear blogger ;
Here is a true story of an urban legend of Fire Drill Layoff in the Company :
A fire alarm in a large office building rang at 3 pm when almost all of 500 employees are at work. As a standard procedure in 3 minute evacuation is done and all the employees gathered outside.
Nothing happened for 10 minutes, so there is no evidence of fire.
And then the drama begins, the firm Security Officer made an announcement :
" Dear employees , with melting heart I had to announced that for many of you this is the last fire evacuation drill. Due to recession, the company had to lay off almost fifty percent of the staff. When you move back to the building, some of you will discover that your swipe pas card is no longer active to give you access to your office desk. If you're among them those laid off, go home and your belongings and other paper work regarding this laid off will be couriered to your home tomorrow. Hope you have a nice career a head. Please move forward and try to swipe your card"
Do you believe it ? This tale made it Internet debut around February 2009. But many believed that the story already took place at Houston Texas around the year of 1994. With current Labor Laws, is hard to believe that the above event could happen. Paper work and Compensation Money is a few things that the company had to settled down before laid off their employees.
But another fact keep recorded. Including the event at Hexham UK ( May 2007 ) and at California ( October 1988 ). Although not as straight as the story above, the 2 events had some similarity with the Fire Drill Layoff. Maybe you can share your knowledge about it ?
