Story telling for adult : a new point of view

Dear blogger ;

What do you have in mind when your hear " story telling " ?
Probably the words : kids, bed time, book, snow white, mother are popping in our mind.
But have you heard about " adult - story telling " ?
Yes, is story telling to adult audiences.

I heard about it almost a week ago. When I watch Chanel News Asia.
The news is about story telling community in Singapore.
Quite interesting , to see a group of grown up people sit on a six chairs dinning table.
After enjoy the meal, they all focus on one man on the stage.
Than the man start to telling a story.
All the audiences are listening carefully. No sound come from the table.
The news end when some of the listener being interview.

Quickly i grab my laptop and go on-line.
Yes, i found the website.

In the home-page you will see :
We cater to :
* People who want to hear stories.
* People who tell stories.
* People who wish to book tellers for special events.
* People who wish to find out more about the storytelling scene in Singapore.

In the rest of the homepage, you'll see the schedule for events and courses.
Also the mission, objective, strenght and milestones. Also the logo and the meaning.
When you scroll the milestones, you can see the birth date of the SAS ( storytelling Singapore ) is at the end of February 2006.
Now the membership at January 2008 is 119 members.
The membership divided to friends, associate and ordinary.

They also promote the event to the viewer. One of the fl yer look like this :













The fact is most of story telling for adult is about adult - only stories.
The art to pleasure your hearing and look at the teller mimic is incomparable.
Specially when you hear the story after supper.

And they also others story-telling groups all over the world.
Like : the Celtic Learning Projectt or the Caldwell Theatre

I can't find any in my country. But it is a new point of view of story telling.
