10. Sony Playstation "home" for PS 3
The PlayStation 3’s answer to an online community, Home, will finally be available for mass public consumption tomorrow, Sony has confirmed.
Home has been in the making for a very long time and has already been available in beta form to selected gamers for the last month or so. The new open beta version will make Home available to any PS3 gamer that wants in.
It’s expected to become available early tomorrow afternoon, so stay glued to your PS3 because as soon as it’s available to download a Home icon will appear on the XMB menu. You may have to restart you console before it'll appear.
But what exactly do you do in Home? Well, think of it as a Facebook-cum-Second Life app that’ll let you create avatars, chat with other gamers in real time and play downloadable mini games.
Your avatar will also be able to access themed communities. For example, one based on Far Cry 2 is already in the works. You might want to keep a “piece” on you if a GTA: IV community crops up...
Regards...
