Local ( maybe world ) record for " Pinang Race "

At my country independence day, several activities is doing by our citizen.
The formal one like a "flag ceremonial" and "honour hero graveyard".
For the lighter side, is always a free music festival or a hero cabaret.

As for all over the country, the pinang race still one of the best attraction.
In this race, a group of 5 to 8 people try to climb a pinang tree erected on a field.
To make it difficult, the pinang tree have no branch at all and paint with oil .
Yes, with oil to make it slippery.

For the team made it to the top, several prizes is awaiting.
Prizes ranged from clothes, cooking utensil, dry food until bicycle or event a radio-tape.

For this year, at carnaval beach ancol - jakarta, a 263 pinang tree is erected.
I think is a new local record for the numbers of the tree.
263 it's self it choose because this year is the 63 years of our Independence.

The event itself is a chaos. Imagine 263 team of 5 people try to climb as fast as possible.
Most of them only wear shorts or trousers to get them more easy to the top.
And it come from various ages : from kids to older people.
One thing in common : all of them are male.

After struggling, they get the prize. With smile on their face, they climb down.
Some prize will be brought home. Some will be sold on the spot to anybody who's interest.
