Work-fun : CBHRM - Employee Selection step 4

Dear Blogger ;

The 4Th step of the CBHRM - Employee Selection is : IDENTIFY THE CORE AND SUB-COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION.

Take a close look to the results of the 2Nd and 3rd steps. Here you can see many task, activities and opinions about a position. And also you can see the required level of knowledge and skills you want at this position.

If you think that some task need higher or lower level of knowledge and skill, you may want to adjust it. Or if the task if unchangeable, maybe you can level-up the knowledge and skills.

When your are finished, you will have a table of achievable tasks , activities and responsibilities.

In the 4th step, you need to transform above table to a table of competencies required.
For example if the task is : " answering every incoming call politely " the competency will be like " excellent verbal communicating skill " or something like that.

Not every single task need a single competency. A single competency can generate a multiple task completing abilities.

Right now, you have a new table of all competencies you need for the position.
All you need to do is divide it to "core" and "non-core"or "sub".
Be care full when you do it. Look again to all of your table. Make sure it cover all.
Don't hesitated to get help from others. Specially from the HR peoples.
Also don't get to much of technical words or description. Made it as simple as it can.

Good luck.

Regards;
