For this weekend, why not try the Krakatoa trip.
Remember Krakatoa ?
A volcanic island in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra in Indonesia.
It's 1883 eruption which was among the most violent volcanic events in modern times.
When happened, nearly 165 villages and town were destroyed and at least 36.417 people died ( official tool ) ( source : wikipedia ).
Now, Krakatoa is not alone. A new island in the same location is built called Anak Krakatau ( child of Krakatoa ). And this two volcanoes now is a major tourist attraction.
Many kind of tourist come to see the Krakatoa. The major route is from Jakarta to the west to Serang or Merak Becah. Many hotels there had a trip to Krakatoa. Either for the " serious" one or just " having fun ".
Another route is less familiar but also great to explore. Is from Jakarta by plane to Bandar Lampung ( Capital City of Lampung/ the southern most of Sumatra Island ) From there you can reach Krakatoa from opposite direction as if you go from Serang.
One of hotel which had a special trip to Krakatoa is the KRAKATOA NIRWANA RESORT.

This trip still valid until the end of August.
The trip also offer a kite festival, an off-road adventure and even a dolphin show.
Nice to know that an ex very devastating volcano now become a tourist object.
