Fun stuff : Indonesia oldest city - Palembang

Dear blogger ;

When I know that Palembang ( capital city of South Sumatera ) is the oldest city in Indonesia, I immediately decided to go there.
This story should be written two years ago ( after I go back from Palembang ).
But, hopefully the story still up to date.

Between work loads visiting our branch representative there, i manage to visit some tourist spot around Palembang.

First is Bukit Siguntang or the Siguntang Hill.
The hill is inside the city of Palembang. Famous to the old manuscript found there.
The manuscript known as the Kedukan Bukit inscription.
This manuscript stated that Palembang as the oldest city in Indonesia ( 604 saka era ).

At first, the Siguntang Hill is seems like a city park. Many shady trees.
Visitor can't miss the reliefs illustrating the Sriwijaya Empire.
I'm also counted eight tombs there. Maybe the tombs of ancient King and his family.

Nowadays, Siguntang Hill is the destination of Buddhist community when it come the Wesak Holly Day. I'm still had enough information about this.
Since when refers to history book the kingdom of Sriwijaya is a Hindus kingdom.

My local friend also told me that many Malaysian tourist come to the hill.
Maybe because the history of Malaka Kingdom ( Malaysia today ) is closely related to Sriwijaya kingdom. The founder of Malaka Kingdom was Prameswara ( Last Sriwijaya King before the kingdom defeated by Majapahit ).

Don't forget also to take a look at Sultan Badarudin Museum.
In this museum ( located near Ampera Bridge ).
Many local artefact's from Islamic period store here.
The building from outside look like a Europe old mansion.
Beside manuscript there are many old coins, clothes and other historical things.

The museum is the last spot I visited.
Got to catch plane for Jakarta.

Enjoy...
